The days are getting cooler and shorter. It’s safe to say that things have been far from ‘normal’ for 2021 but that hasn’t stopped people from updating their homes.
As the leaves change colour and the crisp scent of fall is in the air, we have found a few common trends emerge this fall from our lighting clients.
Incorporating Sconces
Over the past year there has certainly been a push towards a more natural and ambient style of lighting while keeping the design aesthetic minimalist. Key to mastering this style of lighting is incorporating layers of lighting. One way designers are maximizing the layered lighting effect and keeping the look minimalistic is by incorporating wall sconces into the design.
Wall sconces are desirable because they don’t take up floor space or table space like a floor or table lamp, but still allow a focal point and layered light effect. This allows you to highlight a particular feature of your room like a painting or photograph, or to allow focused task lighting like a reading light by the bed without taking up space on the ever-full bedside table.
Focus on the Dining Table
2020 and 2021 has taught us a lot about the value of cherishing the here and now. One way we are seeing this manifest in the home is as a new focus on the dining room or kitchen table. Families are actively seeking ways to connect with their loved ones and what is a better place to do that than around the table sharing a delicious meal?!
We have seen a number of families looking to freshen up their dining area by updating their over-the-table lighting. Interested in what that process involves? Check out our blog on how to purchase your dining room table light.
A Welcoming Front Door
With snow on the way, it’s certainly time to make sure your outdoor lights are in working condition to light up those slippery paths.
The style of your outdoor lighting fixture should always compliment the style of your home. When this happens successfully, your home will always be welcoming to guests and have great curb appeal. We always recommend that our clients bring in a photo of the front of their house so we can help you choose something that reflects the charm of your house.
